Katie’s passion for birth work started when she completed a NICU rotation her senior year of college. After graduating with her BSN from Carrol University, Katie was presented with the opportunity to experience birth in a different way than she’s ever seen, out of hospital. She immediately fell in love with the work and jumped in with both feet, never looking back. She knew she was in the right spot, providing care to mother’s and their families in an out-of-hospital setting.
Katie is a skilled educator and focuses on providing detailed information for her patients at each prenatal appointment. Additionally, she teaches Introduction to Natural Childbirth at Alba Birth Center.
She joined the Alba Birth Center team in 2016 and is a Licensed Professional Midwife in the state of Wisconsin allowing her to care for pregnant women, postpartum women up to six weeks, and their newborns up to six weeks. Katie has specialized training in vaginal breech and twin deliveries through Dr. Stuart Fischbein, Breech without Borders and Spinning Babies.
Katie lives in Appleton with her husband, Sam and their two children, Lucy and Archer. Both of Katie’s children were born in an out-of-hospital setting under midwifery supervision. Lucy was born in the Iris room at Alba and Archer was born at home. In her free time, Katie enjoys playing with her children, studying, and drinking coffee.
Hanna’s career caring for women and families in Wisconsin started in 2017. After experiencing midwifery care and a water birth with her oldest child, her passion for maternity care was ignited. She started working as a doula within the hospital system and throughout that experience, she realized that the way to truly make a difference in maternity care was through the out-of-hospital midwifery care model.
During her midwifery apprenticeship, she cared for a wide variety of women, ages 18 to 45, from Milwaukee to the heart of Amish country. From her experiences attending out-of-hospital birth, she learned to deeply trust birth, babies and women.
Hanna joined the Alba Birth Center team in 2023 and is a Licensed Professional Midwife in the state of Wisconsin allowing her to care for pregnant women, postpartum women up to six weeks, and their newborns up to six weeks. As the newest member of the Alba Birth Center team, Hanna looks forward to serving families during the most sacred, transformative time of their lives!
Her own birth experiences with midwives have helped shape what she offers to women throughout their maternity journey – a gentle, whole-woman approach to health where all options are explored, and all aspects of health are addressed.
Hanna has additional training in honoring and optimizing the postpartum period through Innate Traditions. She is finishing her certification to become an Innate practitioner. Hanna aims to help every family she cares for to adequately plan for and achieve a thriving and nourished pregnancy, birth, and postpartum time. She has specialized training in vaginal breech and twin deliveries through Dr. Stuart Fischbein, Breech without Borders and Spinning Babies.
Hanna and her husband, Domingo live in the Fox Valley and have three children together. Her children are well educated about birth and know more about placentas than most adults! When not attending birth, Hanna enjoys spending time with her family, being outside in the sunshine, drinking coffee, and considers herself to be lifelong learner.
Kera began supporting births in 2016, after experiencing midwifery care during her fourth pregnancy and birth. Already a photographer, she trained as a birth and bereavement doula and combined her knowledge to help support and document experiences of other women. Four years later, she decided to pursue midwifery as a career and began her apprenticeship under the guidance of several experienced midwives, with a combination of schooling and working in many different clinical settings.
After finishing the requirements to obtain her professional midwifery certification, she licensed and practiced in Utah, Oklahoma, and Idaho before settling in Neenah, Wisconsin and joining Alba Birth Center. She has specialized training through CAPPA International, Stillbirthday, Spinning Babies and Breech Without Borders. She values traditional midwifery alongside conventional tools, taking into consideration the whole person and their wellness to provide individualized education, counseling, and clinical care while minimizing interventions.
She is a mother to four children; two vivacious daughters, an inquisitive son, and a beautiful boy who was stillborn at 35 weeks. When she’s not at a birth, she’s homeschooling her three kids while dreaming about having a small homestead.
Kaylynn Jones is the Family Nurse Practitioner at Alba Birth Center. She earned her Bachelor’s and Doctoral degrees at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. She is a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber in the state of Wisconsin and is board certified in Family Practice.
Kaylyn believes in treating the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – and is here to listen, guide, and support her patients through their healthcare journey. To her, it’s important that her patients feel empowered and informed when making their health decisions.
Read a little message from Kaylynn about her “why”:
My journey to joining the Alba team was deeply shaped by my personal experiences with birth. After a miscarriage and a traumatic delivery with my first daughter, I felt disconnected and unsupported in the hospital setting. The care I received seemed impersonal and rushed, prioritizing procedures and protocols over my individual needs – physical, mental, and emotional. It left me fearful of growing our family. I longed for something different – something more holistic, calm, and supportive.
That’s when I found Alba Birth Center. The team at Alba made me feel like more than just a patient. They cared for me as a whole person, taking the time to understand my physical and emotional needs. Their patient-centered, empowering approach to care was everything I had been searching for, and it made all the difference in my own birth experiences at Alba.
It is this same level of care, support, and respect that I will always provide for moms, children, and families – especially beyond the six-week postpartum period, when the need for continued care and emotional support is so crucial, yet so often overlooked.
Above all, I want you to feel like more than just a patient – I want you to feel seen, hear, and cared for as a whole person.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you and your family in your health and wellness journey.
