In 2018, Alba Birth Center was transferred into the care of Heather Kopesky, the current owner and a midwife on staff. On a mission to build a space where mothers and their families feel heard and empowered, Heather renovated and grew Alba to be the oasis it is today. Each midwife at our birth center has joined our team because of their kindness, expert care, and passion for bringing new lives into the world. Our team is fully trained and licensed to offer prenatal care, gender testing, labor and delivery, primary postpartum care, and lactation support. Meet Our TeamMidwifery is one of the most ancient professions. Since the beginning of humanity, babies have been born and guided into the world by midwives. Ancient civilizations didn’t have modern-day physicians, they had midwives. Over time, western medicine set standards and titles with different educational backgrounds and scopes of practice.
Today, as midwives, we treat birth as a natural physiological process, something that women’s bodies are well designed for. The midwifery model of care is a holistic approach to pregnancy care that focuses on the mother and her right to have personalized, non-authoritarian, individualized care. At Alba, we try to protect, support and avoid interfering with that natural process; thus avoiding unnecessary use of obstetric interventions that happen so often and easily in a hospital setting.
Ultimately a midwifery led birth statistically has a healthier birth for both mother and baby.
Our luxury birthing suites are designed to provide comfort, privacy, and a serene atmosphere for you and your support team. There is plenty of room for your partner, family members, or doula to be present and involved in the birth experience. Each suite is thoughtfully furnished with a large bed and a hydrotherapy tub for water births, ensuring a home-like environment where you can feel at ease. Families also have access to their choice of amenities including pain management tools, essential oil diffusers, ambient lighting, towel warmers, candles, and Wi-Fi. Schedule A TourWhen the big day finally arrives, you’ll be greeted by your birth team and set up in your private birthing suite. Our midwives will check on your progress, monitoring your health and the health of your baby. We don’t restrict our mothers choices during birth so you’ll have the freedom to labor in various positions, eat, drink, use birthing aids, and have your loved ones or doula by your side throughout the process. Whether you’re looking to have a natural birth, water birth, VBAC, or deliver twins, we’ll be sure to uphold your decisions and prioritize informed consent.
After delivery, you and your baby will receive immediate postpartum care in the privacy of your birthing suite. Once we’re sure you’re both happy and healthy, we’ll give you and your partner the chance to bond with your little one during the Golden Hour, the immediate hour after birth. Our team will be your primary care providers for the first 6 weeks of your baby’s life, offering check-ups, guidance, breastfeeding advice, and emotional support. You’ll be able to text or call our midwives 24/7 with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the postpartum period.
Preparation is key to a confident and positive birth experience, so we offer comprehensive childbirth classes led by midwives and medical providers. Our classes are designed to equip expectant parents with everything they need to know going into the labor and delivery process. You’ll learn about prenatal health, the physiology of birth, pain management techniques, and what to expect during labor and delivery. Each class is tailored to the unique needs and preferences of the participants. We take into account your birth plan and any specific concerns you may have, ensuring the information is relevant and personalized.
